Below, are some people who knew Chief Tecumseh
As a leader and an important figure he interacted with many different people who also played significant parts in the war of 1812. These include: William Henry Harrison ( the future president of the U.S.), Sir Isaac Brock, Joseph Brant, Lalawéthica (his younger brother), and Major-General Henry Procter.
1.William Henry Harrison
William Henry Harrison led the Americans, against Upper and lower Canada or British North America. He was the arch-nemesis, of Chief Tecumseh. He oversaw the mission to take First Nations land. This created many different enemies, many of which were the Shawnee. The First Nations fought back against Harrison, and he too fought back. But the Shawnee led by Chief Tecumseh, carried out a surprise attack on his camp. Although he lost that battle, he paid back the First Nations and his men ended up killing Chief Tecumseh. He soon became the president of the United States of America, at age 67.
2.Sir Isaac Brock
Sir Isaac Brock, was also a great commander and unlike Harrison he served British North America. He served in two big, major battles in the war of 1812 and he was killed in one. But before this he first served in Europe, against the French in the napoleonic wars. Then after one battle he was transferred to upper and lower Canada/ British North America, where he then fought in many small skirmishes that soon led up to the Siege of Detroit which was won by the British, thanks to Brock. Another key battle took place, and this was the battle of Queenston heights. Sadly, due to the confusion made by the dark, as the battle broke out Brock was shot and killed during the battle. In his memory the British named a warship that was being built the 'Sir Isaac Brock'.
3.Joseph Brandt
Like Tecumseh, Joseph Brant was a translator, interpreter, and a war chief. He first served in the seven years war, with the British. In 1774 he became a minor chief of the Mohawks. When trouble broke out in the thirteen colonies, he stayed loyal to the British. He travelled to Montreal, from the Thirteen Colonies. All though he had a huge impact on the whole of North America, he died in 1807
4.Lalawethica (The Prophet)
All though Chief Tecumseh's older brother was killed, he still had his younger brother. This was Lalawethica. In 1805, Lalawethica had a dream which turned him into a prophet. He conveyed the message of his dream to the Shawnee people. He warned the Shawnee people against the ways of white people, this included gambling, drinking, dishonesty slander and loss of tradition. He then told them that a divine intervention (the Great Spirit), would save them if they got rid of the white influence. Many people agreed and followed the "Prophet."
5.General Henry Procter
Henry Procter first saw action during the American Revolution. He sided and served with the British. He served very well and was praised by even sir Isaac Brock. When the war of 1812 broke out he was sent to defend Fort Amherstburg. In doing this he was promoted to brigadier general and then major general. Then his luck ran out as he failed to capture or siege Fort Meigs, he was forced to retreat. During the battle of Thames, he fought side by side with Chief Tecumseh, and his men. In the middle of the battle he and his men retreated leaving Tecumseh and his men to fend for themselves. Shortly afterwards, Chief Tecumseh was shot down by an American, while charging the front line. Afterwards he was in charged in court for retreating to quickly, and from there his military career went downwards from there, ending with a loss of military status
